Addressing Stormwater Pollution in the Bishops Beach Area

Bishops Beach

A large volume of stormwater runoff generated in the center of homer outfalls into the Beluga Slough Freshwater and Saltwater Marshlands.  Some of this water outfalls in locations that benefit from natural treatment processes that the wetlands provide.  Unfortunately, a large volume of water that bypasses the marshland treatment area and flows quickly to Kachemak Bay.  The stormwater discharge contains pollutants from properties and roads.  This project seeks to address this issue using recommendations laid out in the Kinney Engineering 2020 Low Impact Development Report (Kinney, 2020) and add an additional property to this system in order to facilitate additional stormwater treatment capacity.  This project also seeks to re-direct all remaining stormwater discharge of this area through the Beluga WetlandsThis project is conceptual at this time and is being designed by Coble Geophysical Services.
