Homer is an awesome place to live, but it is a little wild. We often experience earthquakes and that puts us at risk for landslides and tsunamis.

Tsunamis are rare events, but they can be extremely deadly.  In the past 100 years, 58 of them have claimed more than 260,000 lives, or an average of 4,600 per disaster, surpassing any other natural hazard.

National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, October 27th encourages people to get out and get rid of unused or unwanted prescription medication.

This disposal program is a simple, sensible way to dispose of any un-needed prescription medication -- with no questions asked.  By participating, you are doing your part to reduce the amount of drugs entering the environment or becoming a source of drug abuse in the community. 

Draft 2019 Budget Released

City Manager Koester presented the Draft 2019 budget (attached below) at the October 8 Committee of the Whole meeting.  Public comment is welcome at the October 22nd City Council meeting when the budget ordinance will be introduced.
