BIG NEWS! 
The Homer Public Library has recently been awarded one of 25 grants as part of the American Library Association’s (ALA) Libraries Ready to Code initiative sponsored by Google.  This grant will fund programs and opportunities at the library over the next year that support computational thinking and computer science for youth, from preschool to high school, and their families.

Teen drivers comprise of just over 5% of Alaska’s licensed drivers, yet they typically make up over 20% of total motor vehicle fatalities and 30% of major injuries. 17% of fatal and major injury crashes involved an alcohol impaired teen driver.

The City of Homer participated in a Homer High School sponsored career "fair" during the school's October 17^th Focus on Learning classes.

The BR&E survey is now closed to new responses.  Open since mid-July, 112 individuals had taken the survey by the time it closed on October 13. The Economic Development Commission sincerely thanks all who carved a bit of time out of their busy schedules to respond.  Your participation strengthens the EDC's ability to understand local business needs and positively respond.

Despite days of rain interspersed with days with strong winds, the progress is being made on the Boat House Pavilion.  

Equipment, building materials and a crew is on site. The steel frame went up recently and currently concrete work is in progress. 

The Boat House crew reports that electrical work happens soon and Bay Weld Boats is getting to work on the beautiful mast that will really cap off the pavilion's maritime design.
