Convergence: Poetry on Environmental Impacts of War

On Tuesday, April 28, 6-7pm,  Anne Coray (editor) and other local poets will read from their collection of poetry, Convergence: Poetry on Environmental Impacts of War, to be released in May.

This anthology offers a groundbreaking and vital perspective on war’s destruction of the natural world—the creatures, plants, soil, water, and atmosphere of Earth. In poems and contextual comments, 61 contemporary poets focus on military damages to the ecosystems on six continents and the moon.

A Fond Farewell: Honoring Chief Robl

Last night, surrounded by family and colleagues, Mayor Lord honored Police Chief Mark Robl with a mayoral proclamation — and it was a moment well deserved. Chief Robl retires on March 19, 2026, after 40 years of service to the City of Homer, 26 of those as Police Chief — making him the longest-serving police chief in Alaska. We agree with Mayor Lord's words: "Homer is undeniably fortunate to be the community he met that milestone with."
