The City of Homer Community Recreation Program is excited to announce that the Inlet Winds Community Band is restarting this spring. The band will be led by director Eric Simondsen and assistant director Mary Simondsen. We have selected a program consisting of some of our favorite pieces for concert band that we hope you will find exciting to play. Our hope is to launch this February with a great deal of energy and excitement that we can carry into a full 2025 season. Below you will find additional information.
Who can be involved: Inlet Winds is geared for two groups of people.
- Adults with previous experience playing in band (to at least a high school level) who know how to read music. It’s ok if you are a little rusty- We’ll get into shape together!
- Advanced high school students by invitation or with director approval.
When: Regular rehearsals are scheduled Monday evenings from 6:30-8:30 as listed below. We will also have a dress rehearsal on Friday May 2 from 6:30-8:30. Our concert is scheduled for Saturday May 3 at 7:00 PM. All rehearsals will take place in the Homer High School band room. The concert will take place in the Homer High School Mariner Theatre and will be free to the public.
Commitment: We ask that all participants commit to the rehearsal schedule with no more than three pre-planned absences. Please reach out to the directors if you need to miss additional rehearsals and we will discuss your schedule individually.
Fee: The fee for this concert cycle is $45. $25 of this fee is payable to the City of Homer Community Recreation Program and $20 is payable to Eric Simondsen to purchase music for the ensemble.
How to sign-up: Please complete the online form below prior to January 20, 2025 to indicate your interest so that Mary and Eric can prepare the sheet music for you prior to the first rehearsal. If you are unable to access the form, you may sign-up at the first rehearsal.
Thank you very much for your interest. We hope to see you at our first rehearsal! Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. Please feel welcome to share this information with any musicians who are interested in playing with Inlet Winds.
