Join us for the 1st Annual Homer Ping Pong Tournament on Sunday, May 4th at 2pm at Homer High School. This event is co-sponsored by the Homer High Ping Pong Club and Community Recreation. There will be two tournaments: Youth (6th-12th grade) and Open (6th grade to adults). Youth participants may participate in both. Prizes for top 3 finishers in each tournament.
Schedule of events:
Pickleball for youth, teens and adults! Kids 3rd-8th grade MUST have an adult present. Two courts for mixed ages and one court for adults only. No drop offs please & register/sign in before playing. All equipment is provided. Clean indoor shoes required

31st Annual Safe and Healthy Kids Fair: Saturday, May 17th 11am-2pm at Homer High School
Join us for a fun day of outdoor activities, health and safety information, bike rodeo, games, bike give-a-aways, buy some hotdogs for lunch and so much more! Our goal is to promote health, safety and wellness for youth in our community. Hundreds of kids and their families attend each year, with over 40 organizations participating. FREE for all!

Evening Drop in Basketball for 7th graders up to Adults!
Games are pick-up and called by the players. Good sportsmanship and clean indoor shoes are required.
Cuong Nhu and Karate Program Would you like to learn self-defense? Maybe you want an activity to maintain fitness? Or maybe you want something fun to do with friends and family? If so come join us! Homer Cuong Nhu came to the United States in 1971 from Vietnam where it was founded by O’Sensei Ngo Dong and draws influence from 7 traditional styles of martial arts. We don’t just teach the physical part of martial arts though. “A martial artist without philosophy is nothing more than a well-trained street fighter.” - O’Sensei Ngo Dong.
Introducing kids to the joy of moving to music while also teaching fundamentals of ballet. This class allows students to explore creative ways of moving while also learning positions, basic movements, and combinations in classical ballet. Max of 12 participants. 8 week session.
Class attire for girls: hair pulled back with bun (for long hair), ballet slippers, tights, ballet skirt or biker shorts optional. Attire in ballet pink preferred, but other colors acceptable.
The City of Homer Community Recreation Program is excited to announce that the Inlet Winds Community Band is restarting this spring. The band will be led by director Eric Simondsen and assistant director Mary Simondsen. We have selected a program consisting of some of our favorite pieces for concert band that we hope you will find exciting to play.
Fitness Classes with Rafael
Strength is a means to an end, not the ultimate goal. Whether you are a full-time or recreational athlete, a parent trying to keep up with your kids, or an avid gardener, you need POWER, the ability to generate force quickly. In this class, you will develop the strong and resilient body you need and more importantly, learn how to use it.
Polar Power: You’ll use versatile tools like kettlebells and sandbgs to engage in functional movements that mimic real-life actions.
Games are pick-up and called by the players. Good sportsmanship and clean indoor shoes is a must.

Come on by and learn about the fun game of pickleball! This is a class for new players. During class, participants will be introduced to the main shots, the rules, how to keep score and we’ll even play a game or two. This is a great opportunity to the learn the sport. All equipment is provided. Bring clean indoor shoes and water. First time is free!

Drop in/Pick up volleyball! Learn elements of the game such as positions on the court and basic skills including set, bump, and spike. Good sportsmanship and separate clean indoor shoes are required. *7th & 8th graders MUST have parent/guardian present at all times.

The Sports Gear Lending Program is provided to allow community members to borrow sporting goods and recreational equipment from the Community Recreation Program and the Homer Public Library. There is a limited quantity and selection of items but the intent is to encourage community members to get outside to play and recreate.
