Juneteenth Celebration presentation with Ted Carter

Join the Friends of the Library and guest speaker Ted Carter! 

Ted Carter’s Juneteenth presentation will explore the origins and legacy of Juneteenth, a day that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. The presentation will cover key historical moments—including the Emancipation Proclamation, the delayed freedom of enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, and the cultural importance of Juneteenth today.

Clark Fair and Gary Titus have collaborated on writing and publishing a new book that covers the complex and wide-ranging history of Kenai National Wildlife Refuge cabins. 

Level Up at Your Library: LEGO Contest! (Drop-off)

Design a LEGO creation related to the Summer Reading Theme: Level Up at Your Library! Use your imaginations to create something that demonstrates the theme! Follow your own ideas, not LEGO instructions! (No LEGO sets, please.)

Bring your creations to the library between Sat. July 19 and Wed. July 23. 

Judging will take place on July 24. Winners will be announced at the End of Summer Reading Party on Saturday July 26. 

Ghost of the Kenai - Author Talk with Aurora Hardy

Join us at the library to meet Alaska author and storyteller Aurora Hardy, as she shares her historical fiction novel, The Ghost of the Kenai. The novel place in the late 1700s in Alaska on the Kenai River where characters are trying to uncover the mystery of a ghost while Alaska Native and Russian culture ultimately come into conflict.

We Leveled Up Party - End of Summer Reading

End of summer reading party—games, music, prizes, hot dogs and ice cream! Winners of the Lego contest will be announced! All summer reading participants and their families are welcome!
