National Suicide Prevention Lifeline

Call 988

The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is switching to a three-digit number (9-8-8) on July 16, 2022. Alaska is preparing to transition to 988 but until it is active you can still call the Lifeline at 800-273-8255 or the Alaska Careline at 877-266-HELP.

Ranked-Choice Voting -- Training the Trainer

Do you have questions about ranked-choice voting?

Alaska's elections are changing this year. To make sure voters are ready, Alaskans for Better Elections is partnering with Democracy Rising, national experts on Ranked Choice Voting, to offer factual, non-partisan voter education training free of charge. This training will provide you and your organization with in depth information on the Open Primary and Ranked Choice Voting general election, and how to talk with your community about these changes before they head to the polls.

Summiting Denali Presentation

Mountaineer Sam Nofziger visited the Homer Public Library to talk about his experiences climbing the highest peak in North America.

Chickaloonies Storytelling Workshop

Chickaloonies storytelling workshop: Gather at the library, or use zoom from home to join the creators of Chickaloonies, a graphic novel which incorporates Native Alaskan stories, storytelling and art. Creators Dimi Macheras (Ahtna Athabascan) and Casey Silver from 80% Studios will present a 90 minute hybrid workshop on storytelling and comic drawing. Limited to 30.
