The City’s sewer treatment plant (located along the Sterling Highway at the bottom of Heath Street) is experiencing operational difficulties that are resulting in a greater than normal amount of odor being generated from the sludge lagoon.

Mayor Pro-tem Roberts recognized City of Homer Employee and Wastewater Operator Jerry Lawver as Wastewater Operator of the Year at Monday's Council meeting.  The City of Homer would like to thank Jerry for his years of service to the community and the City. The City contracted with Klauder & Company Architects, Inc. to analyze what it would take to bring the Homer Educational and Recreation Center (HERC), also know as the old middle school, up to code for its current use as the Homer Boys and Girls Club and for potential future use as a headquarters for City of Homer Community Recreation.

Periodically, you will see Public Works personnel releasing water from fire hydrants. Homer residents often ask why the City flushes water from fire hydrants.
