KBBI General Manager Recognized for 35 Years of Devoted Service to the Homer Community

Dave Anderson Receives Mayor's Recognition at March 29th City Council Meeting

On the eve of his retirement as General Manager of KBBI Radio, Mayor Beth Wythe recognized Dave Anderson at the March 29th City Council Meeting for his 35 years of devoted service to KBBI and the community.  Dave’s work began as a volunteer DJ in 1981.  In the years since he has served in nearly every staff position at the station, including also serving as general manager for KDLL public radio in Kenai.

During his tenure he oversaw the acquisition of back-up propane generators at the studio and transmitter sites which supports the area’s emergency response efforts and he has led the way in making continuous technical upgrades to improve service to the southern Kenai Peninsula—making KBBI an important community media source, including the broadcast of monthly City Council and Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly Meetings.

The Mayor’s Recognition states, “Dave has honored KBBI and Homer as a leader in Alaska’s public media industry” and “he is revered not only for his skills but also for his kindness, patience and wonderful sense of humor.”

Congratulations, Dave.  Enjoy your retirement!
