SUBJECT: LED LIGHTING CONTROL CONTRACT
In our highmast LED lighting request for proposals, staff included an option for wireless lighting controls that would enable us to fine tune the area lighting system and to take advantage of the long Alaskan twilight. LED lights are dimmable but only if we install a control system designed for that purpose.
Staff believes this new level of lighting control will enable us to better address the concerns that Council has heard in public testimony regarding the lighting project for the Harbor and will increase our energy savings as well.
RECOMMENDATION: Amend the contract with Puffin Electric for refurbishing the Homer highmast lighting system with LED lighting to fund their proposed additive alternative #1 for the installation of a wireless lighting control system.
Fiscal note: funding source 456-0380 P/Harbor reserves, total amount $30,702.00
