Additional information for consideration regarding the operating procedures for the self-serve copier at the library:
Currently the library contracts with Xerox to provide the self-serve copy machine available to patrons. (Staff use the same copier, with an access key, for library business.) Xerox bills the library for each scan made regardless of whether or not the scans are on one or two sides of a sheet of paper. Patrons deposit money directly into a vending device before they print which deducts the cost of each scan from the money deposited. For example, a patron deposits $1.00 and then copies three double-sided pages, a total of six scans. The $.90 is deducted from the money deposited and the patron receives $.10 in change. Additionally, the box does not handle pennies so all fees are based on change that can be made in denominations of $.05.
The proposed new prices in Resolution 18-037 reference copies made per each sheet of paper. Our equipment charges per side, not per each.
