Overview of Water & Sewer Systems

The City of Homer, through the Public Works Department, strives to provide high-quality water and sewer services, anticipate future demand, and effectively provide for Homer’s growth with the extension of water and sewer into areas identified in the land use plan. See attachment for further information.

Brush Cutting: Maintaining Our Roads & Right-Of-Ways

From mid-May until the weather starts to freeze, Public Works conducts the Drainage Improvement Program to re-establish road side ditches and maintain the right-of-way along city roads. By keeping the drainage ditches and right-of-ways clear, we extend the life of roads, improve our level of service and reduce long term maintenance costs.  You can help too!

Reserve a Park Pavilion

Pavilions and/or gazebos are available to reserve  at Karen Hornaday Park, Bishop's Beach, and WKFL Park. The public is free to use all pavilions and gazebos on a first-come, first-serve basis unless a private group or event has reserved them. Reservation notices will be posted at the park facility on the day of the reservation.

Can what happened to the drinking water in Flint, Michigan; happen in Homer?

Homer Public Works is hard at work making sure that your drinking water meets EPA standards and is not contaminated with lead – as appears to be the case in Flint, Michigan.

The problems in Flint were first brought to the attention of the public when residents were found to have elevated levels of lead in their blood stream. The corrosive Flint River water may have caused lead from aging pipes to leach into the water supply, causing extremely elevated lead levels.
