City Will Be Testing Fire Hydrants in June & July. What To Know.
One of the factors used by insurance companies in determining your fire insurance rates is the City’s ISO rating. The Insurance Services Office evaluates fire protection infrastructure throughout the country. Just about every aspect of a city and a fire department is evaluated in determining the ISO rating.
In July, ISO will be visiting Homer to re-evaluate the City’s fire protection equipment and infrastructure. As part of this evaluation, Public Works will be flow testing many fire hydrants in the City throughout June and July. During this time, you may experience reduced water pressure for short periods of time.
If your water becomes cloudy or discolored, flush water until color returns to normal. If water does not become clear call the Public Works Department at 235-3170.
