E Bunnell Avenue and Charles Way Water and Sewer Infrastructure Improvements

The City’s contractor, Southcentral Construction, began construction on a sewer and water infrastructure improvement project on E Bunnell Avenue, Charles Way, and Allen Way on May 23. The primary purpose of this project is to connect properties currently unserved by City water and sewer in Old Town to vital water and sewer system services. These improvements are part of a Special Assessment District initiated by property owners and are being completed in partnership with the City, which will pay a premium assessment to extend services to Bishop’s Beach Park. The impact of these infrastructure improvements extends beyond the immediate benefits of sanitation and water access. This project also puts in infrastructure on which future enhancements, such as a public restroom at Bishops Beach, depend.

The City recognizes the historical and environmental significance of Old Town and the importance of preserving its unique character and charm. By extending sanitary sewer services, we not only prioritize the well-being and convenience of our community members and enhance the overall experience of visitors but also demonstrate our commitment to help safeguard the environment in this treasured part of the city.

Construction is expected to be completed by mid-July. During the construction phase, Southcentral Construction will implement a traffic control plan. We kindly urge all drivers to comply with the posted signs and directions provided by the flaggers to ensure a smooth and safe flow of traffic throughout the project area.
