On December 13, 2021 Homer City Council adopted Resolution 21-091 A Resolution of the City Council of Homer, Alaska Directing the City Attorney to File an Amicus Brief in the United Cook Inlet Drift Association and Cook Inlet Fishermen's Fund v National Marine Fisheries Service and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Et Al.,. Mayor/Aderhold.

City leaders welcomed Senator Lisa Murkowski and US Coast Guard Rear Admiral Nathan Moore to Homer on Wednesday, January 26th.  Senator Murkowski came to tour the harbor to see the need for the large vessel expansion and meet with Mayor Castner and City staff to discuss various City infrastructure projects and possible federal funding opportunities. The discussion covered City water and sewer projects, erosion mitigation projects and of course Homer Large Vessel Port Expansion project.
