Illustrating Alaska: Artists Making Children's Books explores the colorful and intriguing process of illustrating children’s books. The exhibit, curated by Sarah Asper-Smith, highlights the process of four different Alaskan illustrators: Jim Fowler, Evon Zerbetz, Michaela Goade, and Mitchell Watley. Each has a unique perspective on creating illustrations for a children’s book. 

Webinar: Conversations - Challenges to Inuit Art Sovereignty

Due to a family loss, the webinar "Conversations – Challenges to Inuit Art Sovereignty" is rescheduled for December 16th at 9:30am AKDT. A new invitation with an updated link will be provided shortly.

City Council Special Meeting

This meeting will be conducted in person at the City Hall Cowles Council Chambers.  Masks are strongly encouraged for all attendees. Masks will be available at the door.

If you are sick do not come to City Hall.  Remain at home and use an alternative participation option.

Author Talk: Doug Dodd

In honor of Veterans Day, local author Doug Dodd will give a talk about his latest book, Hero Unaware: Letters Home from a Navy Corpsman During WWII. The book presents a collection of letters from his father, who served in the Pacific from 1942 to 1945. This is the story of how a farm boy from Montana ended up at Saipan and Iwo Jima, and the effect his wartime service had on the rest of his life.

The book is available at the Homer Public Library. Check it out today!

Council Members Seated After Certification of Election Results

On Friday, October 8th, the Canvass Board counted absentee, special needs and question ballots to confirm the outcome of Homer's October 5th Regular Municipal Election and issue the Certificate of Election. 

After City Council approved and accepted the Certified election results at their October 11th meeting, City Clerk Melissa Jacobsen oversaw the swearing-in of three Homer City Council members.
