City Council Candidate Filing Period Open August 1-15
Homer citizens interested in running for Homer City Council in the October 7, 2025 Regular Election must officially declare their candidacy with the Homer City Clerk’s Office.
The Candidacy Filing Period for two City Council Members (2-year terms each) and one City Council Member (for a 1-year term) opened Friday, August 1st and will close at 4:30 pm on Friday, August 15th, 2025.
Candidates must meet eligibility requirements of Homer City Code 2.08.020 and must be a qualified voter as outlined in Homer City Code 4.05.010. In summary, candidates must be:
- A US Citizen
- At least 18 years of age
- A registered voter of the City of Homer at least 30 days before the election
- And have been a resident, fixed habitation, of the City of Homer for at least one year prior to Election Day (October 7, 2024)
Candidate filing forms are available online or at the City Clerk’s Office Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Electronic submissions are allowed, but original documents must be filed at the City Clerk's Office before the close of the filing period.
Candidates are required to file campaign reports separately with the Alaska Public Offices Commission. For additional information on how to file with APOC, visit their website at http://doa.alaska.gov/apoc/.
