Don't Get Caught Sleeping: Deadline to Register to Vote is Sept 7
To be eligible to vote in the October 7, 2025 Regular Election, you must be registered to vote by Sunday, September 7.
Any changes to your voter registration info such as your residence address or political affiliation will also need to be updated 30 days prior to an election.
You can stop in to City Hall where the City Clerk's Office will be glad to assist you with any questions regarding voter qualifications or registration forms. The City Clerk's Office is open 8 am to 5 pm Monday - Friday.
Don't know if you are registered?
You can check your status on the State of Alaska Division of Elections MY VOTER INFORMATION.
Need to register? Need to update your registration?
You can do both using the State of Alaska's ONLINE VOTER REGISTRATION system.
You can register entirely online if you have a valid Alaska driver's license or state ID card. The information you enter when registering must match the information on your Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) record. Your signature will come from your DMV record.
If you do not have a valid Alaska driver's license or state ID, or your information cannot be validated, you can opt to register using a paper registration form. Download the form (or use the form below), fill it out and bring it in to the City Clerk's Office or return to the Division of Elections with a valid form of identification.
Once your form is processed, a voter registration card will be mailed to you. This may take up to four weeks to arrive.
Did I automatically register when I signed up for my Permanent Fund Dividend?
In 2016, Alaska voters approved a ballot measure that allows eligible individuals to be automatically registered to vote when they apply for a Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD), unless they opt-out.
The Division of Elections sends notices to all applicants who will either become newly registered voters or will have their Alaska residence address updated from their PFD application. This mailer will notify you that the information on your PFD application will be used to update your voter registration or register you unless you ‘opt-out’ within 30 days.
