Candidate's Statement:
I am running for a third term as the City's Mayor because there are several pending policy decisions that will chart the course of Homer for the next dozen years. About 60% of the City's operating budget is revenue collected through the sales tax. There are over one thousand tax-collecting small businesses located within the city boundary. About 40% or revenue is collected through other fees and property taxes. As costs increase, those taxes act to inflation-proof our revenues. It is a balanced approach.

The City Is generally well managed, but needs to improve its financial planning and add some administrative capacity. Projects need to not only be paid for (a one-time expense) but carry forward a budget component that supports the operational, maintenance, and replacement costs. I will promote that focus as the City Council works though their appropriations and expenditures.

I have always promised that I would be a "citizen's mayor'' and believe I have performed well in that regard. Please make you voice heard.
