Committees & Task Forces

Special Committees and Task Forces are established to accomplish a specific task in a specific time frame and are dissolved upon their final report to Council.  All of the groups are comprised of volunteers and while preference is given to City residents, there are seats available for residents outside City limits as well.

Appeal Hearing

Remand of Appeal of Conditional Use Permit 14-05 by Frank Griswold to be heard by a Hearing Officer assigned by the State of Alaska Office of Administrative Hearings.

City of Homer Study to Integrate Green Infrastructure into Stormwater Master Plan

The City of Homer was awarded an Alaska Clean Water Action Grant by the Department of Environmental Conservation to study the benefits of integrating green infrastructure into a stormwater drainage master plan. 

Rewrite of Homer City Code Title 14 and Title 17

In early 2018 Council member Lord and City Administration requested a review of the Public Utility provisions in the Homer City Code and City practices and procedures regarding public utilities to ensure they were up to date, clear, and consistent.

As a result of the substantive review, Ordinance 19-23 proposes substantial changes to City Code Title 14 and Title 17 to address the inconsistencies and outdated practices enumerated in the city code.

Ordinance 19-23 was designed to accomplish several goals:

One of the factors used by insurance companies in determining your fire insurance rates is the City’s ISO rating. The Insurance Services Office evaluates fire protection infrastructure throughout the country. Just about every aspect of a city and a fire department is evaluated in determining the ISO rating.
