All-Hazard Mitigation Plan 2016 Update
All-Hazard Mitigation Plan 2016 Update
Below is a link to the 5-year update of the All-Hazard Mitigation Plan. The AHMP is directed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). In the end the City’s AHMP becomes a part of the Kenai Peninsula Borough AHMP. The purpose of the 67 page document is to identify Homer’s hazards as in: floods, wildfires, landslides, bad weather, earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanoes and coastal erosion. The plan also outlines strategies to mitigate these risks. New in this update is Section J: Man-Made/Technological Disasters. Addressing our growing dependence on technology is the first step in determining the effects caused by hazardous materials, a radiological incident, bombing, civil disturbances, and power failures.
