Homer Promoted at Seattle & Anchorage Boat Shows

Alaska’s ports and harbors are the economic lifelines for the 49th State.  Ports accept 90% of all goods entering Alaska; they support Alaska’s vibrant commercial fishing and resource extraction industries and they attract and accommodate recreation and tourism.

In support of Alaska’s ports and harbors, the Alaska Association of Harbormasters and Port Administrators annually hosts an Alaska booth at the Seattle Boat Show.  Several harbor towns send representatives to the 10-day show, including Homer.  This January Homer Harbormaster Bryan Hawkins and Homer Chamber of Commerce Director Debbie Speakman represented Homer at the 10-day show.

The goal of the booth is to provide information about and encourage travel to Alaska, whether it be going over nautical charts to give own-boaters tips on navigating to Alaska’s various ports of call, or sharing information about ferry, highway and air travel, or educating industry representatives about Homer's marine support services.

Another opportunity to showcase Homer Harbor and Homer’s highly skilled marine trade industry is coming up February 16-18 at the 2018 Anchorage Boat Show located in the Dena’ina Civic & Convention Center.

The Alaska Marine Trades Association sponsors Homer’s impressive 40’ x 60’ booth which demonstrates just why Homer is by far the #1 Alaskan port for all boating needs.  This year the booth will display three boats built locally from scratch (two Bayweld boats and one Raider boat), representatives from ten local marine trade businesses that had a hand in building the boats, and the newly revised Homer is in the Business of Boats promotional video.   If you are in Anchorage for the weekend, stop by!  We’d love to see you!
