Outdoor Volleyball and Tetherball at the HERC!

Stop by and check out the the new outdoor volleyball net and two tetherball stations at the HERC field (near the skateboard park).  Feel free to bring your own beach ball or volleyball and play some pick up games with your friends.  Or give a try at playing tetherball a classic school time playground game that is fun for all ages.

An all clear has been issued for all coastal communities on the Kenai Peninsula.  The National Tsunami Warning Center had previously issued a Tsunami Warning in response to a 7.3 magnitude earthquake that occurred 55 miles SW of Sand Point at 10:48 pm July 15. 

There is no need to evacuate.

Spit Trail Closure on August 21 and 22

Homer, Alaska, August 14, 2023 – The City of Homer, in conjunction with the Kenai Peninsula Borough Office of Emergency Management, will temporarily close a portion of the Spit Trail on Monday, August 21, and Tuesday, August 22, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. The closure aims to facilitate the installation of enhanced tsunami sirens by the Kenai Peninsula Borough Office of Emergency Management and the execution of a testing project.
