When available, the preliminary election results will be attached below in a preliminary Certificate of Election. This certificate is pending results from the absentee and questioned ballots that have been cast and will be counted by the Election Canvass Board on October 10, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Homer City Hall in Cowles Chambers. Final election results are certified at the October 13th regular Homer City Council meeting.

What does the certification mean?

The table on the Certificate shows the votes cast for each candidate. A ballot tabulator is used to count ballots on election day, and also at the Canvass Board when absentee ballots are verified and counted.

At the October 7th election, voters had the opportunity to vote for one City Council candidate for a one-year term and two City Council candidates for two three-year terms each.  A voter is not required to vote in every race for their ballot to be counted.

The paragraph at the bottom certifies the number of voters who voted a ballot in the October 7th election. Pursuant to Homer City Code 4.04.020 “voter” means any person who presented himself for the purpose of voting, either in person or by absentee ballot.
