Candidate's Statement (submitted exactly as written):

I am a life-long Alaskan and have been a resident of Homer for the past 35 years. I know that Homer is an amazing community with so much potential.  My many years of experience as an educator and school administrator include working with many of you on a first name basis. For the past three years I have served on the Homer City Council and I understand those issues that we can all work on together.  We need to preserve our small-town Pioneer Avenue feel and actively pursue ways to increase City revenue to help insure a brighter future for our hometown.

During my first term I:

• Encouraged the City to work closely with the State of Alaska and local Health Care organizations to help mitigate the effects of COVID19 on City residents, visitors, and the local economy.
• Reintroduced and continue to endorse the plastic bag ban. 
• Proudly supported the Homer Public Library Board’s request to discontinue overdue book fees. 
• Worked with Council members to write policy for the CARES funding for businesses, non-profits, and individuals.
• Proudly worked with the Council and staff on getting voter approval to construct a new Police Station.

In my second term I will continue to focus on:

• Strengthening Economic Development
• Enhancing quality of life for residents
• Encouraging young responsible residents to serve on boards within the city
