I moved to Homer in 1989 after teaching in bush villages for thirteen years. My wife (Lyn Maslow) and I raised our two sons, Aaron and Robert here. I taught school in the Homer area until 1998 when I retired from teaching. Between 2004 and 2015 I worked at Kachemak Bay Campus with the Youth Job Training Program.

I was first elected to the Homer City Council in 2008. During my tenure as a city councilman, I have supported projects that would enhance the quality of life in Homer. I have served on the Harbor Improvement Task Force, Large Vessel Haul Out Committee, and currently sit on the Cannabis Committee. During my eight years on the council we have been confronted with a shrinking budget while introducing the gas line, working on the development of a new public safety building (which I support) and finding funding for programs outside of basic city responsibilities (Kevin Bell Arena, Pratt Museum, Chamber of Commerce, new soccer building, trails, and the Homer Foundation).

In order to secure Homer's bright future, I support funding for the building of the East Boat Harbor, increasing traffic at the large vessel haul out, and making Homer a four season recreation destination. This will allow us to utilize our existing resources for economic growth while still maintaining our small town atmosphere.
