With pride I am a product of Homer. Back in the day, between commercial fishing seasons I was Homer’s original Nutcracker. Area schools and particularly Kachemak Bay Campus, KPC, became springboards to my career as a geologist. Professional roles took me outside for several years where I gained municipality-related lessons of what often works and what often does not. Krys and I returned to raise our child in Homer recognizing the criticality of good city governance for families.
Firstly I bring a long history and understanding of our beloved, unique community. Secondly I bring science-minded ability for practical understanding of cause-and-effect – meshed with foresight to glean trends before they affect our Hamlet by the Sea. My area of specialty may be directly helpful for geo-engineering options facing the Spit (the main engine of our economy) and bluff stability.
Like in science, breakthroughs for City organizations occur when true collaboration takes place among folks coming from different, equally beneficial positions. I have no agenda; I will be open-minded and approach issues diligently and honestly to help find the best path forward for our entire community. Homer has done a great deal for me. It is enjoyable to simply give something back.
