Pioneer Avenue Landscape Maintenance

Over the past thirty years, road sand, grass clippings and deciduous leaves have accumulated on Pioneer Avenue’s lawn and garden meanders, building the sod layer above the sidewalk, in some places as much as a foot.  The City’s Public Works Department has been out with a back hoe on Pioneer Avenue this week to bring the level of the earth back down to the level of the sidewalk.  This maintenance will help with sidewalk snow removal in the winter, and helps to rejuvenate the landscaped areas we enjoy so much during the summer.

Water System Flushing

WATER SYSTEM FLUSHING

The City of Homer, Public Works will be flushing the water system May through Sept. This routine maintenance improves the quality of your drinking water. At times, you may experience low water pressure. If your water becomes cloudy or discolored, flush water until color returns to normal. If water does not become clear call Public Works at 235-3170.

For more information about the reasons why the City of Homer flushes the water system, read "It Seems At First Glance To Be Such A Waste!"
