CDC Recommends Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 Booster Dose

Many Alaskans who are at the highest risk for COVID-19 are now eligible to receive a Pfizer booster dose. The CDC made the final recommendation for certain populations to receive a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech's COVID-19 Vaccine at least six months after the second dose of their Pfizer vaccine series to help increase their protection.

Lend-A-Leash Program

The Lend-A-Leash Program is made possible by the team work of the City of Homer, Homer Animal Friends and Alaska Mindful Paws of the Homer Animal Shelter to provide pet leashes to the community.  Look for the signs at the beach, parks and trails for the leashes.

2022-2027 CIP

Attached is the City of Homer's 2022-2027 Capital Improvement Plan, or CIP for short.  

The CIP provides information on capital projects identified as priorities for the Homer community.  The projects included in the City of Homer’s CIP were compiled with input from the public, area-wide agencies, and City staff, as well as various advisory commissions serving the City of Homer.

Descriptions of City projects include ways the project will benefit the community, cost and schedule information and a priority designation Level 1 (highest), 2 or 3.

HERC 1 - Where are We, Where have we Been and Where Do We Go Now

Originally built in 1956 as the Homer High School, the HERC (Homer Education and Recreation Complex) is a two-story structure consisting of three distinct spaces (a lower level gymnasium wing, an upper level classroom wing, and a center two-story space that connects the two wings). It is located west of Pioneer Avenue on Woodside Avenue and the Sterling Highway. The property encompasses 4.3 acres, and includes an additional older two story former school building, which is currently used by the Public Works Department.
