The Choice to be Heard: Learning from the Poetry of Amanda Gorman

Amanda Gorman inspired the nation when she delivered her poem “The Hill We Climb” at the 2021 Presidential Inauguration. In this one hour virtual workshop, we will discuss two of Gorman’s poems, explore what brings her to poetry, and use her ideas as a springboard for our own poetic creations. We’ll also talk about poetry as a means of political expression and why or why not it is an effective tool.

For teens ages 12-18.
