Become A Volunteer Firefighter! Training Class Begins in January
The Homer Volunteer Fire Department is offering a Firefighter Training course January 14th through March 30th, 2019.
Volunteer firefighting is one of the most rewarding experiences you'll ever have! If you like a challenge, are over the age of 18 (or will be by the end of the year), and are physically up to the task, becoming a volunteer Firefighter I is for you. Volunteers come in all shapes and sizes -- you just have to be willing to put forth the effort.
Classes are Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6 pm - 10 pm and Saturdays from 9 am until 5 pm. Afterwards, attendees qualify to take both the written and practical examinations for the State of Alaska, and National Certification.
For more information contact HVFD at 235-3155 or stop by the station at 604 East Pioneer Avenue for an application/information packet. Classes are also brokered through our local college and are eligible for 12 credit hours.
