Chill, its a Drill
Wednesday, March 25, at approximately 10:15 a.m. there will be a test of the tsunami warning system.
This test will be broadcast on NOAA Weather Radio All Hazards, local television and radio stations, and residents in Homer will hear warning sirens. This is the ‘live’ warning signal that goes out each year to test the real warning signal system. Though media broadcasts should follow up with audio saying it was only a test, the siren message may not contain the word test.
The test is part of Tsunami Preparedness Week, March 22 to 28. A ‘live’ test is performed periodically to troubleshoot the emergency warning system. The public is asked to provide feedback online at ready.alaska.gov.
