The Homer Public Library has 19 public computers.
Patrons are allowed 90 minutes of computer time per day (split into two 45-minute sessions), and must have a library card in good standing to log on to the computers. Visitors can ask for a guest pass for one 45-minute session.
Printing is offered in black and white (for 15 cents/page) and color (for 50 cents/page).
More things to know:
The Homer Public Library offers wireless access building-wide. Access is free for four hours per day. When prompted for a user name and password, simply provide one of your choosing as time is monitored against the laptop's IP address, rather than your card. Users of our wireless access must conform to our Internet Use Policy (see below).
We encourage users to take precautions when using any public hotspot, as wireless access is accessible and open to anyone in the library. This means your transmissions may not be secure. Virus and security protection is the responsibility of the patron.
Most wireless-enabled laptops come automatically configured to pick up the wireless signal and you won't need to change any settings. Look for the 'Homer Library' signal if your computer isn't sure which one to pick.
You are responsible for configuring, establishing, and maintaining your connection to our network. Due to liability concerns, HPL staff will not be able to provide any assistance. Homer Public Library is not responsible for any changes you make to your computer, nor can we guarantee your hardware is compatible with our free network connection.
Printers are not available via WiFi. The WiFi will turn off 15 minutes before the library closes without warning. Please watch the time.
