ILL Lending Services

ILL Lending Services to Other Libraries

Policies:
The Homer Public Library policies for loans to libraries generally follow the procedures set out in the National ILL Code for the US (1994; revised 2001, 2008). The library lends materials to libraries for a loan period of 60 days. Renewals may be granted if not needed by another user. Audiovisual materials are loaned for 21 days, no renewals. Please be aware that the loan period includes mail time and that the due date is the date due back at our library. Library Rate mailings from outside Alaska may take more than 4 weeks in transit. Please return A/V materials first class or equivalent. All interlibrary loan transactions, including requests for photocopies, are conducted library to library.

The following types of materials are available through interlibrary loan:

  • Books
  • Photocopies of Journal Articles
  • Audio/Visual Materials

We accept requests by OCLC.

To check on material availability and bibliographic information before ordering, search our online catalog.

Charges:
The Homer Public Library is a member of LVIS, Libraries Very Interested in Sharing. We do not charge lending fees.

Shipping:
We use USPS Library Mail for most materials. Videos are shipped First Class or Priority Mail. Photocopies are shipped via mail or fax.

Material Not Loaned:
The Homer Public Library Interlibrary Services staff has the authority to determine, on a case by case basis, items which are not suitable for interlibrary loan. These decisions are generally based on an item's physical condition. We do not loan new books, periodical issues, newspapers, maps, reference books, or rare items.
