30-Day Public Comment Period Open Through June 22!

On May 21, the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) released the Draft Feasibility Report for the Homer Harbor Expansion Study, opening a 30-day public comment period.

The report summarizes the engineering, environmental, and economic analysis of four design options to address chronic overcrowding and navigational safety challenges in Homer Harbor. The report recommends a path forward. Both the USACE and the City of Homer concur on the recommendation. Alternative 2 provides moorage for large vessels currently rafted three to five vessels deep and for the number of smaller vessels currently on the moorage waitlist. It is worth noting: the study concludes with a recommendation, not a construction commitment.

The USACE Press Release provides information on where to access the report online and how to submit comments. Hard copies will be available for review at the Homer Public Library and the Clerk’s Office at Homer City Hall.

Public comment is open through June 22, 2026. All comments are welcome!

Visit the Homer Harbor Expansion website for background information about the study.
