Hanging the Homer Public Library Sign

Signage is one of the best ways to promote your business. Signs tell us who you are, where you're located, and distinguish you from your competitors.

The Planning staff invites you to stop by or call anytime. We’re glad to help with sign measurements, sign permits, and resources for making signs effective and legible.

Do I need a Sign Permit?  Yes, and there maybe a $50 permit fee. There are parts of town where no sign permit is needed, though compliance with the standards is still required.  Either way, the Planning Staff is available to review a Sign Plan for compliance.

Why do we have a Sign Code?  The sign code encourages effective use of signs while balancing aesthetics with economic development. Like most communities, Homer’s Sign Code is proportional, meaning that large buildings are allowed more signage than small buildings.  The sign code also sets standards for all businesses to follow.
