Harbor Advisory - Heavy snow and rain forecast - Check your bilge pumps and clear vessels of snow

Attention Boaters!

A Winter Storm Watch is in effect from midnight Wednesday night through 6:00 a.m. Friday morning. The forecast calls for snow followed by heavy rain. The combination of the freezing temperatures we've been experiencing followed by a rapid thaw and rain can sink boats in harbors.

The Harbormaster requests vessel owners with boats moored in Homer Harbor ensure bilge pumps are working and check for signs of ruptured plumbing. Remove any excessive snow or ice accumulation from vessels.
